Earl's Hill (Pontesford Hill)
Shropshire Wildlife Trust and the people of Pontesbury wanted to buy Pontesford Hill. The lease to the hill, which has another 940 years to run, was sold to a private buyer by the Forestry commission in 2010. Shropshire Wildlife Trust was bequeathed the freehold in 1968, so it made sense to buy back the lease. Pontesford Hill has been used by the Longmynd Hike since the hike's inception. The campaign was successful and the purchase has been agreed (details here), but the last £24k to support future management works and costs of looking after the hill are still needed, click here to make a donation.
